What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is FDA-approved for the treatment of aging and damaged skin. As the term indicates, microneedling involves a device making microscopic needle punctures as it is moved over the target area of the body. Subsequently, these tiny micro-wounds stimulate natural skin rejuvenation as the body begins to heal, creating more collagen and elastin in the process. At Nimbus Medical Spa, we offer microneedling with PRP as well as RF Frequency add-ons to boost the impact of the treatment further:
- Microneedling with RF
In addition to microneedles, the dissipation of radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat tissue helps the skin tissue contract and tighten, further increasing collagen production.
- Microneedling with PRP
The provider first draws a blood sample using this technique to obtain the PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Then, after the practitioner uses the device to prick the skin, they apply the PRP to the micro-wounds to encourage healing and cell production.
